Live for Live Music Single Premiere New Single & Video

PREMIERE: The Jauntee Release New Single & Video, “Puppy In My Pocket”, Off Forthcoming New Album [Watch]

The Jauntee—featuring guitarist Caton Sollenberger, keyboardist Tyler Adams, bassist John Loland, and drummer Scott Ferber—are rising stars on the jam circuit, steadily expanding their dedicated following in their hometown of Boston into a solid fan base across the country. Performing an average of 100 dates per year nationwide, the band has won over countless fans with their unforgettable live shows, next-level jams, and musical risk-taking.

On September 14th, The Jauntee will release a brand-new album, Always Never Knowing. Mirroring the group’s high-energy live shows, the sixteen-track album was recorded during their two-night run at Cambridge, Massachusetts’ The Bridge Sound & Stage, with the whole album professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered by Alex Allison and Tom Waltz. Featuring nine previously unreleased tracks (which fans may know as staples of their live shows), the album reformats four live sets of music recorded in Cambridge, emulating The Jauntee’s high-octane live shows in the best way possible.

Today, Live For Live Music is proud to premiere a new single, “Puppy In My Pocket”, off The Jauntee’s forthcoming release. “Puppy In My Pocket” is the first track off the second disc of Always Never Knowing. While the first disc features lyrically driven songs and classic “suites” from The Jauntee’s live catalog—like “Colorado” > “Dog Gone Blues” > “Regretless Acceptance”—the second disc showcases The Jauntee’s extensive improvisational abilities, which are on full display on this 19-minute-long release.

As drummer Scott Ferber explains about “Puppy In My Pocket”,

I like “Puppy In My Pocket” because it’s simple, catchy and open-ended. There’s no real chorus, yet the whole tune is a sing-along; it’s always a crowd favorite. It can open a show, close a set, be a three-minute rocker, or a 30-minute jam. In many ways, the song encapsulates The Jauntee’s sound. It’s basic yet musical, whimsical yet philosophical, and a perfect launch pad for improvisation.

Adds bassist John Loland, “Fans seem to enjoy ‘Puppy in my Pocket’ live every time, which makes it fun to play. We chose it as single because the song itself is short and catchy while at the same time being able to tie in the live improvisational aspect.”
