Inspired by a love for Rock and Roll, improvisational music and the fusion of the two, The Jauntee recently released their sophomore album, Excelsior, a renewed and revitalized take on American music. The album holds a little bit for everybody: some rock and some roll, some doo-op and some prog, some bluegrass and some ballads, some short rockers and some long compositions — All with a fresh, quirky take on the music.  Both musically and lyrically, it’s a fun album.  With a goal of creating fresh new music that stems from older styles, Excelsior captures The Jauntee’s love for true improvisation in all it’s forms and styles.

Excelsior was produced, mixed and mastered by Warren Amerman at Rotary Records in West Springfield, MA Spring 2015.  As the band’s first real experience in a professional studio, they wanted to take full advantage of it’s benefits, churning out a much fuller album than their 2012 debut.  About half of the songs on the album were written by drummer Scott Ferber, one written by bassist John Loland (Valley Girl), with the rest being collaborative efforts. The live energy of a Jauntee show was genuinely captured during these studio sessions, as Producer Warren Amerman kept a fairly ‘natural’ sounding mix without going too overboard on ‘studio magic.’  However, there are a lot of aspects to the album that are solely part of the studio charm and cannot be created in a live setting such that the album has something to offer that a live experience could not, and visa versa.
